Important Notes for Spring 2015 Implementation
- Teachers at each building and in each grade level should decide where is the most appropriate place to start no later than March 1, 2015. While we will not all be starting at the same place across the district, teachers in the same grade level in the same building should begin in the same or a similar place.
- The decodeable books can be used for phonics instruction, but should not be in the students book boxes.
- Continue to use the FFSD sight words that you have been using all year. In the beginning of each phonics teacher's manual, there is a list of lessons and next to each lesson is the sight word or word(s) that are needed for the lesson. You can teach these sight words as you encounter them in order to support the phonics lesson.
